I want to run for council with OneCity!

As they say, I have some personal news:

Yep, I’m seeking a nomination to run for Vancouver Council with OneCity Vancouver. My campaign website (where you can sign up to OneCity to support me!) is here.

Housing and urbanism advocacy has become a large part of my life over the years, but I can honestly say I didn’t see myself making the shift into electoral politics until relatively recently. It’s clear to me that ABC isn’t going to rock the boat and undertake the sort of real reform Vancouver needs to its planning and land use regimes that is needed to fix our housing crisis.

I’ve spent years learning about housing, urbanism, and building a more affordable and equitable city, and I’ve also worked hard at learning to communicate these values. So what it really came down to was the conviction that I could make a difference, and that I knew had to give this my best shot.

If you want to support me, the best way is by joining OneCity and getting anyone else you know to sign up too (membership is open to any citizen or PR who lives or works in the City of Vancouver). It’s an open nomination process so I’ll need the support of members to get my name on the ballot.

I’ll just wrap up for now by saying a huge thank you to everyone who has supported me in this so far, whether through donations, signatures, taking the time to help me out with my campaign, or just sharing some kind or encouraging words. That goes double to my wife. Thank you all!

Oh yeah, and by the way: housing is good!
